Child Parent Relationship Therapy - 10week course for parents

Do you want things to change for you or your child?

Unsure about therapy? Hesitant about Parenting classes

Have you tried Child Parent Relationship Therapy?

An individually tailored 10-week Program for a small select group of parents focusing on developing parents/ carers’ therapeutic play skills with their 2— to 11-year-olds as an evidence-based developmentally appropriate way of increasing emotional security, reducing ‘unwanted’ behaviours, and enhancing family well-being and connection.

How is CPRT different from parenting classes or individual therapy?

Parenting classes typically follow a set structure with general topics for large groups with limited opportunity for individual discussion. In contrast, therapy typically involves an individual therapist looking at feelings, emotions, and experiences.  Sometimes, Classes and Therapy don’t feel right.  Child Parent Relationship Therapy aims to capture the benefits of an evidence-based program and peer support with the personalised emotional well-being focus that individual therapy offers.  As such, each session is led by a CPRT-trained Play Therapist who follows the 10-week structure.  Parents are screened and commit to completing self-recorded play sessions at home, following guidance for 10 weeks.  Positive reviews of videos occur weekly within the supportive parent group, and individually tailored support is given whilst skills and understanding of the group are developed.
